China Academy of Machinery Science and Technology (CAM) is a big state-owned enterprise of science and technology, and it is directly under the leadership of State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC). CAM was founded in 1956, and it has been dedicated itself to realizing the revitalization of the national manufacturing industry.
CAM has been committed to the research work on the common interest technology in the manufacturing industry for more than 50 years. After generations’ endeavor, CAM now focuses on two scopes of business including machinery equipment technology research and service and its equipment manufacturing. In 2009, the total volume of assets was 3.6 billions, the business revenue amounted to 2.4 billion, the profit realized was 160 millions, and has gained more than 7000 achievements which are applied in some main domestic industries such as machinery manufacturing, aeronautic and aerospace, transportation, information, metallurgy, construction, automobile, environmental protection, and energy and etc.. CAM has a few of subsidiaries providing the professional technical services in the fields of standardization, quality testing, quality certification and management consultancy and they are competent in supplying for customers the total solutions to the problems not only in the R & D but also the equipment manufacturing and the technology services. For a long time, CAM has contributed a lot to the national economical and social development and the scientific and technological progress.
Pursuing people-oriented principle in science and technology, CAM attaches a very high importance to personnel training in R & D work. CAM formed the talents team including the middle and high-level management talents, the high-level R & D talents, the high-level interdisciplinary talents and the high-level technicians. Among them there are 3 academicians, 20 national eminent young and middle-aged experts, 287 experts who had the governmental special allowances, 9 experts who entered the national “Tens-Hundreds-Thousands talent project to the new century” and 458 researchers. There have been 2 postdoctoral scientific research working stations, 1 doctorate-accredited field and 16 master-accredited fields, where educated lots of R & D and management talents with good qualities.
Nowadays CAM has 14 subsidiaries including the holding companies, and it is among the important parts of China National Innovation System.
